We all work from home on Sunday nights if it is needed. But do any of us go to a movie on Monday afternoon?
This is a question posed by Ricardo Semlar, CEO of Semcor Partners. I saw his TED talk today and seriously feel he is my SOUL MATE, atleast Business Soulmate. He has asked exactly the same questions I ask everyday. What is the point of doing all the things we do in Business everyday?

When starting to write the blog about the TED talk, I created pages and pages of material. Finally decided to probably do several articles over a period of time.
The first thing he talks about are terminal days. The most important aspect of life is living or the experiences we have and also the impact we have on another human being (at least for me). What if we just sell our entire lives to our jobs? Where will we have the time to have these experiences? I rather buy back my Wednesday from my company knowing I could spend the time better knowing its going to be a quiet day at work. Its profitable for me and my employer.
Who invented these rules of working 5 days a week and having 2 days off? Shouldnt we work when there is work and be free to focus on our other interests when our work is done? What is this crazy attitude of devoting atleast 40 hours every week working .
We create a life where we do not allow any "idle time" to think why we are doing what we are doing. We just behave like machines that do the same thing over and over with no thought or analyzing our motivations. Weekends are as busy if not more than weekdays. I thought I needed more idle time to think because I am a writer. But now I am convinced that every human being should be able to think. If not, we are just a bundle of reflexes behaving how we behaved yesterday, not thinking about what we want and why we are doing what we are doing.
Who invented selling all our time to a corporation? Shouldnt we just blend work into our life?
